A global pharmaceutical company manufacturing pharmaceutical products from human plasma is seeking a Brand Specialist who will build and maintain the corporate and product brands and to assist the marketing manager in all activities related to the brand to maximise sales


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharma or BPharm or equivalent
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Marketing or Communications is preferable
  • 5 years’ industry experience
  • 2 years’ experience in sales, product management, branding or advertising role
  • Experience in digital marketing

Duties & Responsibilities

Specific Operational Requirements

  • Develop product leave behinds, detail aids for use by sales team in accordance with the defined brief
  • Identify and select relevant literature to be used as references for promotional material or training material for the sales team
  • Arrange printing quotations and overseas the production and receipt of printed marketing materials
  • Identify promotional items for use as give-aways by the sales team
  • Ensure that the items are consistent with the marketing code
  • Provide continuous communication of updates to the sales team of MCA relevant regulations pertaining to new rules/ practises
  • Coordinate the distribution of promotional material to the sales team
  • Close liaison with the sales team to assess customer response to promotional material
  • Ensure that the printed promotional material is being used optimally
  • Create marketing training material for RCA certification in relation to the relevant business/ brand strategies

Translate corporate brand and product brand objectives into brand strategies

  • Develop annual plans of brand activities
  • Generate creative ideas to create, build and enhance product brands
  • Identify potential opportunities for brand awareness/ promotion and make recommendations to the marketing manager
  • Ensure that all elements of the products are consistent with the brand
  • Suggest new content for the website
  • Develop copies for inclusion on websites
  • Provide input into annual the marketing plan

New Product Evaluation, competitor and market intelligence

  • Provide analysis of sales, competitor activities, sales team reports/ notes to ensure continued understanding of the market and customer’s needs
  • Research and report on local and international industry trends and their impact on markets
  • Keep abreast of treatment trends, clinical trials and publications and reporting on those which may impact on the usage of products
  • Research local and international markets, disease trends and customer needs
  • Evaluate brand strength in the marketplace to identify opportunities and threats
  • Review print media, competitive intelligence, sales team monthly reports and attendance of quarterly marketing meetings
  • Identify the need for market research and make recommendations to the marketing manager
  • Work as part of the business development division to identify and evaluate new products for the company’s current and future markets
  • Generate insights from market and competitor intelligence for consideration by team for new products

Training of Sales Team

  • Plan and perform quarterly training for the sales team on the effective usage of promotional aids
  • Conduct ad hoc in-field visits with sales team to observe usage of materials
  • Provide telephonic support and assistance to sales team with respect to promotion/ detailing of products
  • Perform regular evaluations on current product packaging/ components through the sales teams’ visits and relevant studies pertaining to practice of their clients
  • Manage monthly stock verifications

Website re-design and content maintenance

  • Plan, execute and maintain the re-design of the website with compilation of the
  • required documents
  • Manage the website content for the different departments with update and upkeep of the information on the website
  • Manage communication and liaison with the designated website developer for troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Monitor the HCP portal available on the new website with constant upkeep and
  • maintenance of the content
  • Conduct overviews of the website user queries/ requests ensuring that the relevant department receives and acts upon timeously
  • Prepare statistical analysis report of the website use monthly and annually

Internal corporate branding

  • Prepare internal marketing material for inclusion in internal communications
  • Update company employee features/ testimonials for website re-design and social media platforms and responses on these platforms
  • Develop annual plan of activities to strengthen the corporate brand internally
  • Prepare relevant CSR campaigning associated with special awareness days

Social Media Liaison

  • Manage and maintain all social media material and features including LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook
  • Compile social media features as well as related campaigning for CSR events internally and externally
  • Compile social media SOP, updating and upkeep of documents
  • Train the relevant teams on the social media SOP
  • Prepare annual statistical analysis report for the social media activities and campaigning
