Purpose:

A pharmaceutical company is seeking a Financial Accountant – Manufacturing who will be responsible for the accounting compliance and statutory functions of the manufacturing division

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • A relevant, completed tertiary Degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience within the manufacturing, pharmaceutical environment
  • Working experience of SAP, Embrace, Hyperion, EPM, Exact, SmartView, and Essbase will be a distinct advantage
  • Proficient in MS Office, with Excel experience at an Advanced level
  • In-depth understanding and experience with Hyperion will be a distinct advantage

 

Key Job Outputs:

Inventory and costing

  • Stock control and reconciliation – monthly, quarterly, annually – SAP vs Embrace
  • Weekly and monthly raw materials product costing updates on Embrace
  • Product costing for finished products
  • Annual stock counts
  • SAP stock reviews, production orders checks, requests and imports
  • Stock adjustments for consumables used and stock returns via PO receipts
  • Overhead under-absorption calculations
  • Adh oc costing for services other than manufacturing products
  • Creating new inventory codes on Embrace to agree with SAP
  • Obsolete and short-dated stock calculations and provisions

Fixed assets

  • Fixed assets management and forecasting
  • Capex projects management

Reporting and other

  • Management of strategy plan, budget, and forecast processes
  • Responsible for all the relevant reporting
  • Monthly payroll review and sign-off, including file import
  • Manage other payroll-related costs i.e. provisions for leave, bonuses, accruals, WCA calculations
  • Monthly general and HFM journals
  • Expense prepayments every month
  • Process and balance intergroup transactions
  • Creating debtors’ invoices
  • Engage with the operations team regarding volume control
  • Ensure the relevant submissions are done i.e., black line reconciliations, insurance renewal templates
  • Cash flow management
  • Reviewing of new agreements
  • Bank management and payment releases

Business support

  • Finance department to support all business units
  • Adhere to local and regional reporting deadlines by ensuring accurate and timeous data submission
  • Ensure direct and indirect tax compliance
  • Ensuring provisional taxes are paid in time after approval
  • Ensuring compliance with CFA policy
  • Managing audits and ensuring audits are completed on time
  • Ensuring compliance with local company laws
  • Ensuring accounting policies are applied consistently with no deviations
  • Ensuring compliance with our local and global policies
  • Ensure GIS India Hub team compliance with controls, processes, and policies
  • Support any Internal audits
  • Ensure Finance CAPAs from Internal audit are adhered to
  • Support of any tax and customs audits
  • Providing finance management with timeous communication on important topics or issues to ensure appropriate decisions are made

Special projects and other requirements

  • Support all manufacturing projects including upgrades
  • Capex project updates and management against the budget
  • Assist with BBBEE compliance management
  • Support with all system changes and rollouts, including SAP; global systems, shared services, etc.

Talent management

  • Recruit, train, and incentivise/Motivate the workforce to achieve business objectives
  • Complete mid and end-of-year performance conversations with reports
  • Provide coaching and feedback to team throughout the year, ensuring development of finance team
  • Review talent and determine appropriate development programs

 

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Team leadership skills required
  • Must be a self-starter, be willing to work in a team environment, and have a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, taxation, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Ability to analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
  • Strong level of urgency and results and deadline-driven behaviours
  • Shows integrity, tenacity, resilience, and adaptability in complex situations and often changing environments; can handle pressure and commit to and respect deadlines
