A large pharmaceutical healthcare organisation with experience in various positions within the multinational pharmaceutical and FMCG industry is seeking a Laboratory Analyst who will analyse raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, stability samples and special test requests


Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry/ Bachelor of Science in Chemistry/ A Diploma in Food Technology or equivalent
  • 3 to 4 years QC laboratory experience working in the chemistry lab
  • HPLC experience is a necessity
  • ICP – OES experience would be advantageous
  • Sound knowledge and working experience within a laboratory environment according to the requirements of ISO 17025

Key Job Outputs:

Duties & Requirements

  • Implement chemical evaluation of raw material, finished product and stability samples
  • Execute daily tasks and work instructions according to the relevant SOP’s
  • Perform tests according to validated and approved methods
  • Record, report results and provide detailed observations of the analysis of data and interpretation thereof
  • Accurately calculate and interpret results
  • Perform analytical investigations according to SOP, on out of specification results
  • Report all out of specification/ deviations to the supervisor
  • Ensure the disposal of all laboratory waste according to procedure
  • Monitor gas cylinder levels and timeously order replenishment stock
  • Conduct chemical reagents weekly on stocktake for use
  • Ensure compliance to GMP/ GLP guidelines, SOPs and internal audits
  • Ensure that lab equipment was maintained at acceptable levels and report discrepancies/ breakdowns to the team leader
  • Analyse non-routine/ special request investigations according to given target dates
  • Maintain standard forms and electronic laboratory records
  • Participate in chemistry method validation, verification, development and compile reports
  • Participate in proficiency testing for relevant methods.
  • Participate in the customer complaints investigations and corrective actions
  • Identify deviations from the management system and from procedures for the purpose of performing laboratory activities
