Purpose:

A global healthcare organization providing high quality, trusted medicines, expanding their access is seeking a Marketing Director who will develop marketing strategies and implementation thereof which focuses resources on maximizing market share and operating profitability of key strategic product portfolios

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Medical or Pharmaceutical Qualification
  • Appropriate Business and Marketing Degree/ Diploma
  • 4 to 5 years proven senior management experience in a marketing role with at least 2 years as the head of marketing
  • Experience and a proven track record in a sales role will be an advantage
  • Good knowledge and experience of core marketing including sales, key accounts, business development, regulatory, legal, medical, training, supply chain, finance and people management
  • Thorough knowledge of the South Africa pharmaceutical industry

 

Key Job Outputs:

Duties & Requirements

  • Provide assistance with taxation, internal and external audits and other technical assistance
  • Conduct market research, gap analysis, identify business opportunities and conduct product feasibility studies and outcomes
  • Ensure brand profitability through knowledge and management of product, price, promotion, place, and costs
  • Coach and develop marketing department managers
  • Negotiate and partnership with key opinion leaders, societies, organizations, funders, and administrators
  • Work closely with business development, and guide the short, mid and long-term product and portfolio strategic direction
  • Provide strong leadership to drive the marketing team to deliver on marketing objectives

Leadership

  • Lead and develop the marketing team to enable them to develop and implement the best possible marketing campaigns, while maintaining full marketing management responsibility for all marketing portfolios and departments

Marketing Plans

  • Develop annual marketing plans with full accountability for the full promotional mix for health care professionals
  • Play a major role in the strategic development and preparation of portfolio and product business plans

Advertising Agency Briefs

  • Work closely with advertising agencies and ensure the delivery of strong marketing campaigns and deliverables to each marketing sub-division

Strategy Implementation

  • Take accountability for the execution of brand healthcare campaigns and corporate campaign

BI & Market Research

  • Gather and analyse market data in order to understand industry and therapy area trends
  • Develop dashboards to evaluate performance versus competition
  • Conduct market research with help from medical and sales departments for in-depth understanding of disease areas, new product launch, the customer/ patient relationship or the brand

Financial

  • Ensure the delivery of brand financial goals through detailed analysis and understanding of short-term and long-term brand performances, with special emphasis on marketing program effectiveness and drivers of the business model

New Product Launches

  • Manage the product launch process through effective resource allocation, maximizing product life cycles and ensuring portfolio optimization in line with the defined business strategy and plans

New Business Development

  • Work closely with business development with gap analysis in the current product portfolio and identify new business opportunities

Funders & Administrators

  • Work closely with market access and strengthen relationships with relevant MHC companies and negotiate support on new product launches where relevant

Optimize Cross-Functional Support

  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across, sales, medical, regulatory, finance, supply chain, quality, legal and HR

Systems & Procedures

  • Establish appropriate marketing systems and procedures to ensure efficient operations and appropriate control, based on quality and commitment to deliver on-time

Plan & Control Local Marketing Expenditure

  • Control expenditure according to product and portfolio priorities, ensuring cost-efficiency always
  • Focus on advertising and promotion and other controllable expenses

Direct & Manage Activities of the Marketing team

  • Ensuring that staff are properly coached, given the opportunity to develop and be continually motivated to handle the demands of their jobs and achieve their objectives
