Purpose:
A chemical manufacturing company is seeking a Procurement Manager who will be responsible for leading the procurement team in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services to ensure timely, cost-effective supply of quality goods, optimal inventory levels, and strong supplier relationships to support efficient manufacturing operations
Key Job Outputs:
- Manage the purchase of goods, materials, components, and / or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
- Support the purchasing function and collaborate with relevant departments to communicate any supply issues that could impact business operations
- Act as a key liaison between suppliers and internal departments for purchasing processes, new projects, and ongoing activities
- Monitor and report on risks or opportunities related to the supply chain, including market trends, competitor activity, and supplier developments
- Analyse current and historical costs and contribute to cost-reduction initiatives
- Prepare regular reports and updates for management and stakeholders
- Collaborate with procurement team members to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and process optimisation
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies to promote a safe workplace
- Negotiate prices, terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and align with best procurement practices
- Raise and manage purchase orders and delivery schedules in accordance with business needs
- Build, maintain, and manage effective supplier relationships and ensure open and professional communication
- Ensure a consistent and ethical approach is taken in all supplier interactions, in line with company policies and procedures
- Conduct research and evaluation of new suppliers and components to support innovation and supply continuity
- Compile and analyse supplier performance data to support evaluations and strategic decision-making
- Participate in supplier assessments and performance reviews to ensure compliance with contracts and service expectations
- Resolve issues related to pricing, quality, delivery, or invoicing with suppliers in a timely manner
- Foster productive internal and external relationships through strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of how procurement activities impact production, manufacturing processes, and customer order fulfilment
