Purpose:

A large pharmaceutical manufacturing company is looking for a Procurement Specialist – Indirect Spend to set up and maintain the procurement functions through developing and implementing purchasing strategies and regular benchmarking of all purchasing categories to achieve market price, exceed performance targets and contribution of the categories to Group performance (competitiveness, innovation, quality and risk management, follow-up of category KPI’s

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • University Degree / Diploma, in Supply Chain, Procurement, CIMA or similar
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced
  • 3 or more years operational experience in a supply chain/ procurement environment
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of MRP and ERP systems
  • Working experience in infant, powder production environment or dairy would be advantageous
  • Project management
  • Advanced knowledge of supply chain and procurement processes
  • International procurement experience essential (advantageous if in milk commodities and engineering purchasing)

Key Job Outputs:

  • Implement strategies designed in collaboration with global category teams to ensure total compliance with all group policies and to take responsibility for the defined purchasing budget
  • Lead procurement projects to tender for goods and/or services in own area of responsibility. This comprises supplier selection based on requirements defined by the corresponding functional owners, market analysis, non-disclosure agreements, requests for information, requests for quotation, commercial negotiation, supplier selection, contract preparation and signing and implementation
  • Vendor management
  • Procurement demand analysis and validation
  • Implementation of procurement strategy and policies
  • Collective approach in pricing strategy and negotiations
  • Drive savings, discounts, and rebates
  • Implement the inventory system which will minimise the amount of working capital at company site
  • Risk management
  • BBBEE strategy implementation
  • Assist with management of claims and resolution of disputes
  • Advise senior management on improved procurement processes, management of company assets and replacement strategies
  • Conduct business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify potential and improvement opportunities
  • Provide periodic reporting for management on purchasing, controls and processes
