Purpose:

A pharmaceutical company is seeking a Cost Accountant who will be responsible for for assessing business expenses and preparing an optimised budget plan; duties include (but not limited to) reviewing financial records, researching the market rate for key business costs, and adjusting the company ledger to accurately reflect the financial position of the business; required to oversee expense reports, analyse data on what has been purchased or the incurred costs regarding goods and services received from vendors, and make recommendations about cost-efficiency

 

Key Job Outputs:

  • Collecting and analysing data about a company’s operational costs
  • Setting standard costs of manufactured goods and maintenance of Bill of Materials
  • Developing and analysing cost standards
  • Performing Cost-Volume-Profit (CVP) analysis
  • Preparing budgeting reports and cost forecasts and analyses against actuals
  • Identifying and recommending cost-effective solutions
  • Investigate discrepancies in financial records and perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance of financial reporting and accounting practices with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Manage physical inventory counts (bi-annual cycle) to ensure the accuracy of inventory records
  • Manage compliance with internal controls and SOPs
  • Assist with the management of internal and external audit
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register in terms of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Management of petty cash
  • Co-ordinate and management the monthly reporting and management pack
  • Business partnering with key stakeholders to ensure seamless finance integration in operations
  • Ultimately, the Cost Accountants responsibility will be to help maximise profitability for the company by managing cost information and providing insightful costing information to managers

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in discussing financial reports with company stakeholders

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in finance or commerce with a specialization in cost or management accounting
  • CA(SA) and/or CIMA will be advantageous

 

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a management accountancy or equivalent role
  • Proficiency in Oracle (advantageous) and well-acquainted with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

 

Salary:   Market related
