Purpose:

A chemical manufacturing company is seeking a Regional Operations Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing operations within assigned region, ensuring optimal retail execution, agency performance and sales growth; overseeing merchandising, in-store compliance, promotional activations and third-party agency management to drive brand visibility and market success

 

Key Job Outputs:

Regional strategy and execution

  • Implement operations strategies aligned with company objectives and vision
  • Ensure effective execution of FMCG retail activations, merchandising standards and in-store promotions within the region
  • Oversee and track key performance indicators for store-level execution and sales performance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for retail partners and operations teams within the assigned region

Team leadership and development

  • Manage, coach and develop sales representatives within the region
  • Conduct regular training sessions to improve in-store execution, product knowledge and compliance
  • Provide performance feedback and support career growth within the team

Agency and vendor management

  • Oversee third-party agencies responsible for merchandising, field marketing and in-store activations within the region
  • Monitor agency performance using service-level agreements and ensure compliance with execution standards
  • Work with agencies to optimise field team efficiency, product placement and promotional implementation
  • Escalate agency-related issues to the Head of Field Operations and propose solutions for improvement

Retail execution and compliance

  • Ensure field teams and agencies adhere to store compliance, planograms and trade marketing guidelines
  • Conduct regular store visits, audits and performance evaluations to assess execution standards
  • Identify and resolve stock issues, shelf-space concerns or promotional non-compliance with retail partners
  • Ensure retail partners comply with display agreements, pricing strategies and promotional activations

Performance monitoring and reporting

  • Track and report on sales performance, inventory availability, merchandising execution and competitor activities
  • Provide regular updates to the Head of Field Operations, highlighting challenges, successes and opportunities for improvement
  • Use field data and analytics to recommend and execute actionable improvements in stores

Market intelligence and competitive insights

  • Communicate market trends, competitor promotions and consumer insights within the region
  • Identify retail opportunities and risks and propose solutions to enhance performance
  • Provide insights to trade marketing and category teams to refine in-store strategies

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, marketing and supply chain teams to ensure seamless retail execution
  • Liaise between field teams, retail stores and head office to align on priorities and execution

Communication improvement and innovation

  • Identify process improvement to optimise in-store execution and regional team productivity
  • Support the adoption of technology tools for tracking operations and real-time reporting
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in FMCG retail operations and implement best practices

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in operations management
  • Experience in managing teams, budgets and operational processes
  • Familiarity with managing operations across a large geographic area
  • Experience managing agency teams to ensure execution excellence in stores

 

Salary:   Market related
